Our thanks go to our formidable Jury and its President, who delivered an exceptional Palmarès, to Laura Flessel, an active and committed godmother, and to all our partners, from Canal Plus with "Au Micro" to Eurosport and its Olympic Evening, from l'Equipe to Elle, from Mediawan to Banijay, who all made a strong editorial contribution, not forgetting Interaction and Lacoste, whose friendly and elegant activation gave color and joy to the Festival! And let's not forget the Barrière Group, who welcomed us with open arms!

PALMARES-sport-doc-festival 2024

the 1st edition jury

A jury of eight personalities (documentary professionals and athletes) will select the winners of the first Deauville Sport Doc Festival, chaired by Stéphane Meunier.

jury president Stephane meunier

Stéphane Meunier, president

Stéphane Meunier marked a turning point in the world of sports documentaries when he plunged his camera into the intimacy of the French national team in 1998. "Les Yeux dans les Bleus" won a 7 d'or for best documentary.
His career as a journalist and filmmaker, however, does not end with this master stroke, which will live long in the memory of the French.

He first worked as an image reporter for several news magazines (24 heures on Canal Plus, La Marche du Siècle and Envoyé Spécial on France 2, Le Droit de Savoir on TF1, Zone Interdite and Capital on M6), covering geopolitical issues (the war in Lebanon, major labor strikes in Poland, the Iran/Iraq conflict, the Western Sahara conflict, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the collapse of the Soviet bloc, the Gulf War, the Bosnian War...).

All the themes addressed by the Deauville Sport Doc Festival are at the heart of Paris 2024. Whether in terms of eco-responsibility, sustainable development, inclusion, diversity, parity or education, and actively preparing a lasting legacy for French sport. So it was an obvious choice to be at your side for this 1st edition.

She has just completed a documentary on François Gabart, with whom she worked for 4 years.

I'm delighted and proud to be working alongside the jury and its president Stéphane Meunier, the ultimate authority on immersive sports documentaries. As a documentary and fiction filmmaker, I'm looking forward to discovering these films that tell the inspiring, impactful and unifying story of sport, and of humanly invested characters, in varied and unprecedented sporting universes.

I was honored to accept the invitation to join the Deauville Sport Doc Festival because I strongly believe in the power of this genre, which continues to evolve and tell the profound story of sport. Given the richness of the sporting calendar, 2024 will be an even richer year for incredible documentaries.

I loved Les Yeux dans les Bleus and the depth of Stéphane Meunier's work, and it's a great pleasure for him to have chosen me as a member of his Jury, and to be at his side to reward works that take a fresh look at sport.

I've been waiting for the Festival because I'm convinced of the power of sport to accelerate gender equality, women's emancipation and peace.
We're going to celebrate the work of directors and producers by revealing, promoting and encouraging their work.
Through their inspired eyes, we'll be able to realize that sport is universal and a mirror of our society.

I've always wanted to reward young, up-and-coming talent who haven't necessarily had the chance to be discovered. If we succeed, we'll have partly succeeded in our mission.

Deauville Sport Doc Festival is a first in a genre that's on the rise, and I'm interested in helping to reward inspiring life stories. Sport has become a way of life, and an unlimited source of stories and passions that transport us as much as they enlighten us about current societal challenges.

OLIVIER GIRAULT
OLIVIER GIRAULT
Captain and Olympic, World and European handball champion, he has been inducted into the French Handball Hall of Fame.
UNSS Director

Sport is a big part of my life, and it's exciting to be able to look at our disciplines from a different angle, and to showcase the stories of champions that go beyond their achievements. We have the potential to reach all audiences, not just sports fans. I got involved because I see the documentary as a way of inspiring young people to choose and practice "their" sport.
