CATEGORIES & PRIZES


The Festival’s editorial line focuses on emblematic stories of sport, and will highlight documentaries with a social value, with prizes such as IMPACT ROLE MODELS, LEGEND, EXPLOIT.

CATEGORIES


A total of fifteen sports documentaries (professional competition), a dozen web documentaries and around ten short documentaries presented by media schools will form the selection of the Competition. The films presented at the DEAUVILLE SPORT DOC FESTIVAL are chosen by an Editorial and Selection Committee, under the responsibility of a Programming Director.
Unless otherwise agreed, documentaries may enter the following competitions provided they meet the requirements and specifications described below :


All films must have been produced after June 1, 2022:

PROFESSIONAL CATEGORY

FEATURE FILM MORE THAN 35 MINUTES

Sports documentaries longer than 35 minutes.
The term “professional” refers to works broadcast in linear or digital format.
These are documentaries directly related to sport. They may be single documentaries or documentary series. In this case, only the pilot or episode n°1 will be accepted.

SHORT FILM 8 TO 35 MINUTES

Sports documentaries lasting between 8 and 35 minutes.
Works are considered professional if they are broadcast in linear or digital format.
These are documentaries directly related to sport. They may be single documentaries or documentary series. In this case, only the pilot or episode n°1 will be accepted.

web category (PROFESSIONALS & INDEPENDANT)

WEB SERIES AND WEB DOCS

Short-format documentary (under 8 minutes). All works designed for and broadcast on social networks (youtube, tiktok…) whose first broadcast is digital are considered professional and independent. These are short-format documentary works (under 8 minutes) directly related to sport. They can be single documentaries or mini-documentary series (minimum of 3 episodes). In this case, only the
the pilot or episode n°1.

SCHOOL CATEGORY

SHORT FILMS – LESS THAN 26 MINUTES
Documentaries made and produced as part of academic programme of public or private cinema and/or journalism schools are considered to be in the school category, regardless of the diploma presented. These should be films which duration is less than 26 minutes, having a direct relationship with sport.
