The doc series is a fast-growing genre. One that goes far beyond the Netflix phenomenon during COVID. At this particular time of year, an uninitiated audience was eagerly awaiting the next episode of "The Last Dance", Michael Jordan's final season in the NBA. But this groundswell had already been kick-started by "Drive to Survive", which put Formula 1 back at the center of the sporting stage!
Doc series are a genre in a league of their own, with deep stories, narrative, red threads and suspense. And they attract a much wider audience than the usual sports audience. But, at a time when doc series are so seductive, aren't we abusing this format to draw the line when a good single doc would have sufficed?
